Our Therapists
Alla Prokhovnik-Raphique, Ph.D.
I am a clinical psychologist, trauma and addiction specialist licensed in New York State and New Jersey. I am trained in various evidence-based modalities including cognitive- behavioral (CBT), psychodynamic and motivational interviewing approaches. I completed advanced training in EMDR and Prolonged Exposure treatments for PTSD. As a first generation immigrant, I help people work through issues related to immigration, acculturation and experiences of alienation.
I completed my Ph.D. at Fairleigh Dickinson University and my APA accredited internship at NYC Health and Hospitals Kings County. Following my graduation, I completed a year-long fellowship at the Addiction Institute of Mount Sinai (AIMS) where I subsequently worked providing individual and group psychotherapy to a diverse population of clients struggling with a variety of addictive disorders. Following my work at AIMS, I was employed at the Student Trainee Mental Health Clinic at the Icahn Medical School of Mount Sinai where I provided evaluations and individual therapy to medical and graduate students, and residents.
In addition to my clinical work, I maintain voluntary faculty appointment at Mount Sinai Hospital where I continue to help recruit, supervise and teach pre-doctoral psychology trainees, as well as, conduct research on various aspects related to addiction. Additionally, I volunteer with the Mount Sinai Human Rights clinic by conducting psychological evaluations for individuals seeking asylum.
Whatever experience or life transition brings you to therapy; you do not have to go through it alone. I work with people from all walks of life to build on their strengths and resilience towards a better, more meaningful future. I pull from various evidence-based approaches to tailor care to the unique needs of each individual that I work with. My approach to treatment is warm, supportive and non-judgmental. I seek to learn about your unique needs and experiences in order to create a comfortable and open therapeutic environment where you can better understand, process and heal from your struggles.
